What We Do

Kemesha’s Kommunity conducts annual drives and projects which provide necessary items and essential goods to families in need (those living at or below the poverty line). Kemesha’s Kommunity also responds to urgent requests for support.

After years of giving back, Kemesha’s Kommunity was conceptualized in 2018 when Kemesha saw an opportunity to increase community engagement, and a need to organize her efforts to make her community better.  Guided by her passion, vision, and genuine belief that we are all here to support one another, Kemesha launched her sponsor a family initiative.  This lit a flame for her to do more to lift others up, and in 2020, Kemesha’s Kommunity received official 501(c)3 status.

Nonprofit involvement and community initiatives:
  • Community backpack drive - more than 1,000 backpacks have been donated to local families since 2017
  • Sponsor-a-family for the holidays since 2018
  • Go Gold for Pediatric Cancer in conjunction with Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital - donated more than 3,000 toys since 2015
  • Arthritis Foundation fundraising for research and a cure since 2017
  • Toys for Tots participant and drop-off location since 2015
  • Additional youth mentoring partnerships with Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, The Guidance Center of Westchester, My Brother's Keeper and the New Rochelle Youth Bureau
  • Operation Gratitude - collected and distributed care packages for troops and first responders locally and overseas
  • One Change At A Time - fostered intergenerational relationships for local families with residents at local nursing homes and assisted living facilities
  • Participant in Her Honor mentor program with Judge Judy

Kemesha’s Kommunity also responds to urgent requests when families are in crisis. We have supported families displaced by fire, those in need of food, and countless others. If you have an urgent need, please contact us. Please know that we are volunteer run and will respond as quickly as possible.
